Your grade for each lesson will be based on two factors: performance quality (how well you can play your assigned materials), and preparation (whether or not you can provide evidence of having practiced your assigned materials).
Excellent – The student’s performance was accurate, fluent, and expressive.
Good – The student’s performance was generally accurate and fluent, with minor errors or hesitations.
Fair – The student’s performance lacked accuracy and fluency, with several errors, pauses, and/or restarts.
Poor – The student was unable to demonstrate an ability to perform the assigned materials.
· Organization - In addition to bringing their instruments, students are expected to bring their lesson books, portfolios, and any other assigned materials to each lesson. Failure to do so will result in an automatic 5% deduction from the score for that lesson.
· Participation – Lack of participation during a lesson may result in an automatic deduction of up to 10% from the score for that lesson. Behavior that is disruptive and/or disrespectful may result in additional administrative consequences.
You must turn in a Lesson Excuse Form for each lesson that you do not attend, regardless of your reason for not attending the lesson. The consequences for missing a lesson are as follows:
If you do not turn in an excuse form at or before your next scheduled lesson, your grade for the missed lesson will be converted to a zero, regardless of your reason for missing that lesson. At this point you may still submit an excuse form for reduced credit.
